Mount Gay Rum Race
The first week of the Mount Gay Rum was on Friday October 3rd. This also coincided with the first week of daylight saving time so racing now gets underway at 4.30 pm. A big fleet of 42 boats started the first night, including 6 multihulls. The Mount Gay Rum Race continues almost every Friday afternoon throughout the year.
Club Marine Wednesday Series
The Club Marine Wednesday Series got underway on October 8th with 104 entries spread over 12 divisions. Race two is scheduled for Wednesday 22nd October with the first division starting at 5.45 pm.
Tuesday Summer Series
This series commenced on October 14th and is a combination of harbour races and windward/leeward races offering three divisions. Div X is the women’s division (with spinnaker), Div Y is for mixed crew (spinnaker) and Div I is two-handed (spinnaker & non-spinnaker). Races 2 and 3 (back-to-back windward/leeward races) will be sailed on October 28th, first start at 6.00 pm.
Young 88 Sprint Series.
A very competitive series consisting of three windward/leeward sprint races every race night with fleets of between 20 - 23 boats for some very close class racing.
Cruising & Motor Yacht Division.
This fleet commenced on October11th with Race One in their 2008/09 series. Race Two is November 8th.
Stewart 34 Hyundai Championship Monday Night Series
Commencing on November 10th, there are eight evenings scheduled, spread over the season with 3 back-to-back windward/leeward races each night. Fast, close action-packed racing in two divisions, spinnaker and non-spinnaker.
Opening Day
The Opening Day race will be on Saturday 1st November. As well as being the traditional opening day event, this race is also Race One of our Commodores Cup Series and Race One of our 2008 / 2009 Club Championships.
